very beautiful... I'm not sure if the dream is a pleasant one or not... but the image definitely is. There seems to be some frustration. I love the vibrancy of the ribbon, how it stands out against the grey. Gorgeous work.
Thanks so much! This imagerealy wasn't inteded to be dark. It was going to be him rolling ina field on a happy day, and then one of my friends said it looked like he was falling (before i;deny background in) and that made me changemy mind completely. Then the clouds weren't supposed tobe so ominious. More dream-y and soft with stars for a background, and then I saw an awesome photo of a storm at sea... and I wanted to use the clouds from there. And the ribbon was kinda a spur-o-the moment thing, like: "ooo ribbons are pretty *draws a ribbon*"
Great piece - superb job with the stormy moonlit clouds and the red satin ribbon – Mievzar rocks as always. Still mulling over the symbolism thou… I had a Tool poster like this once – you can turn it upside down or rightside up for viewing depending on your mood.
I like it.
The ribbon's a lot brighter than the unicorn or the clouds, but that's not necessarily bad. It transverses a large portion of the picture and draws the focus down across it. It's awesome how you left a big chunk of empty space (by empty i mean just background) at the top, nice compositional things like that always make me feel warm and fuzzy. The only thing I think could have been done better is the shadows on him, darker greys. It makes him look a little flatter because his shadows aren't too dark, especially on his chest and the inside of his hind legs. If you don't mind me saying so
I was thinking I wasn't going to favourite this, because it seems like I've been doing that to too many of your pictures. ...but I've looked at it too much, and now it's got me. It really is an excellent piece, especially for the compositional elements. ...not quite the crap that you proclaimed, in my opinion +fave

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
